Kara DioGuardi is a living legend in the music industry. Aside from a long list of accomplishments as a songwriter, Kara DioGuardi is the new and fourth American Idol judge. Although American Idol originally wanted to have four judges on the show, it took seven years before they found someone to join Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson guiding and criticizing the contestants on the FOX reality show. DioGuardi joined the judge’s table of the American Idol on the eight season of the hit singing contest, which aired on January 2009.

Of all the judges in American Idol, DioGuardi is probably one of the most qualified to criticize and give music tips for the contestants. Kara DioGuardi’s songs have appeared on over 100 million records, including Grammy award-winning artists like Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, Gwen Stefani, Pink and Santana. DioGuardi’s songs have also been included in the albums of Britney Spears, Jewel, Enrique Iglesias, Kylie Minogue, Marc Anthony, The Jonas Brother, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff, among many others.

As though she was destined to be an American Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi has also helped Idol winners and contestants with their albums. The stars from American Idol that made DioGuardi’s songs popular include Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Katharine McPhee, Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks, Clay Aiken and David Archuleta.

Over the last four years, Kara DioGuardi has been awarded 10 BMI Pop Awards for writing the most-performed songs on radio. From her hundreds of songs, over 265 of them have been released on major record labels worldwide and more than 165 have appeared on multi-platinum albums. Aside from a very impressive record as a songwriter, Kara DioGuardi also co-owns the Arthouse Entertainment, a company focused in developing and mentoring hit writers, artists and producers.

Kara DioGuardi had an experience as a judge on the ABC Idol-like show called “The One: Making a Music Star” on July 2006. Unfortunately, the show didn’t do well and was canceled after two weeks. With her new gig on American Idol, DioGuardi has a second chance to prove that her career advice for the future stars on the show will be valuable.
